Abstract

Meckel's diverticulum is the most common congenital abnormality of the gastroitestinal tract and found in approximately 0.6 to 4% of the general population. It has been a diagnostic challenge since it was first reported by Fabricus Hildanus in
1598. In
1809, Johann Meckel was the first to describe the anatomy and the embryology of the diverticulum as a remnant of the omphalomesenteric duct. Meckel's diverticulum aries along the antimesenteric border approximate 45 to 90 cm proximal to the
terminal
ileum. Recently, we experienced a case of omphalomesenteric duct remnant combinded with internal herniation with colsed loop obstruction being trapped between the mesentery and the mesodiverticular band in a 3 years old boy. He was successfully
treated
by segmental resection of ileum with Meckel's diverticulum without postoperative sequelae. Therefore, we presented this case with a brief review of related literatures.
